100% Cotton T-Shirt, Light Grey.

Silkscreened and produced in Kensington Market.

Sako Ghanaghounian was 11 years old in 2012 when Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday made the statement that families raising their children in the city is not a good idea. Sako was born at Women’s College Hospital and grew up in historic Kensington Market. He and his friends were offended by the Mayor’s comments, as they love living in the city.

Sako wanted everyone to know that he was a city kid and proud of it. He created shirts for himself and friends by cutting out the words “I LIVE IN THE CITY” out of cardboard, grabbing some black spray paint and spraying the words on. From there, parents and strangers began to request the shirts.

We then worked with local printing companies to design and produce hand printed silkscreened shirts in a variety of sizes, onesies, and tote bags – available for everyone who is proud to live in the City.

We hope that you find the story inspiring and are proud to be a city kid at heart!
